My Philosophy on Education and Learning
In my own personal style of teaching, I would want learning to be fun and exciting. I want the students to stretch their brains and have a passion for knowledge. In order to stimulate learning, I would have contests such as the Poem of the Month club or the country of the month to enhance cultural awareness. In order to enhance their knowledge of the world, every nine weeks I would try to take them on a meaningful field trip with follow up activities.

In teaching, I am a strong advocate for teamwork. Having the principals, parents and fellow teachers all working together is very important for the child's growth. I also like to involve the community as well. I would invite outside speakers often to come to class. The kids would enjoy hearing an expert on a subject. I am also a believer of flexibility and using a variety of different teaching methods. Because I believe that since none of us are the same, then none of us are going to learn the same. One day they may work in co-operative learning groups; the next they might discuss a novel using the Socratic(asking questions and opinions) Method. My ultimate goal would be to bring out the best in all my students, regardless of race, background, or brain power.

I think as professionals we should treat each other respectfully and professionally. I believe in accountability. There should be a pretest and a posttest on material covered in the classroom. I would follow the Standard Course of Study as well as try to be creative and make the material be as interesting and interactive as possible. I would challenge myself as well as my students to do our best and to make learning a life long joy.
